Services & amenities

Mawamaba has its own nature trail that leads guests through its tropical gardens past the rooms to a pond of fresh water turtles. A three-toed sloth is often spotted in the nearby trees, and, if you look closely among the tropical flora, you might spot a sleeping red-eyed green tree frog. Beyond the turtle pond, Mawamba has two butterfly gardens each with two to six species that include blue morpho, owl and heliconia butterflies. Beside these enclosures, visitors will find the frog pond where Mawamba cares for blue jean poison dart frogs and black and green poison dart frogs.

The Kotonga is Mawamba's floating restaurant often rented for cocktail-party sunset or moonlit dinners, the Kotonga floats up and down the Tortuga and Penitencia Rivers.  Tours on the Katonga include at least one free drink and either snacks or dinner, depending on the tour. The Kotonga is an additional tour not included in Mawama's two day, one night package.
